Sachiko M – “Sine Wave Solo at Ftarri 2022”

Since the second half of the 1990s, Sachiko M has gained ardent fans while generating controversy with performances using test tone sine waves. In addition to her work as an improviser, she has been engaged in diverse activities including composing, publishing photo books, curating and directing festivals, and presenting sound installations inside and outside Japan.

Sachiko M performed at Ftarri on November 21, 2022, as part of the concert series celebrating the 10th anniversary of the launch of Ftarri’s physical store/performance space in Tokyo. This CD is the complete recording of the two sine wave solo sets she performed in that concert (each 25 minutes). While extremely restrained, the music pulls the listener in and doesn’t let go until it’s over. The performance is truly Sachiko M herself.
